Just two months after Toyota Motor Philippines revealed the Vios race car for the Vios Cup one-make race, 12 celebrities and motoring journalists will take the cars in an inaugural exhibition race around Clark International Speedway on October 12.
Taking to the track on that day will be celebrities Rhian Ramos, Phoemela Baranda, Aljur Abrenica, Fabio Ide and Jinno Rufino. Joining them are motoring press members Jeff Reyes and Botchi Santos of Top Gear Philippines, Aris Ilagan of Balita, Brian Afuang of Manila Times, Iņigo Roces of Manila Bulletin, James Deakin of Philippine Star and Vince Pornelos of AutoIndustriya.com.
The one-day event will feature more than just the Vios race cars going around the track as TMP will also be hosting a concert at the venue starring Ely Buendia and the Oktaves, Sponge Cola, The Zombettes and DJ Ace Ramos.
Other activities planned for that day are an all-Toyota car show, driving exhibitions, track days and radio-controlled car racing. The best news of all is that there's no entrance fee.
According to TMP, the Vios Cup is a grassroots racing competition that caters to motorsports enthusiasts "and just about anyone who enjoys the fun of driving." In addition, the series is "designed for non-professionals, making it a platform for everyone."
"The Vios Cup exhibition race on October 12 will be the jumpstarting point or a prelude to TMP's grand plans next year for motorsports in the Philippines," said TMP president Michinobu Sugata. "We have planned this to become more of a motorsports festival that will not only have cars racing around the track but also a fun-filled family event with several side activities for everyone to enjoy."
